In the last few years, the chemical and manufacturing industry has come under closer governmentrnscrutiny due to the issue of combustible dust explosions resulting in the loss of life in the workplace.rnAlthough none of these events has been associated with the wire industry, the wiredrawing producersrnand their dry powder lubricant suppliers have become more aware of the importance of understandingrnand controlling dust when handling or using these products. A review of the physical properties and thernformation mechanism of combustible dust will be presented along with suggestions on minimizing dustrnaccumulations to comply with new workplace regulations.
