Riverbank Erosion and Mitigation in Vietnam

摘要

Riverbanks in Vietnam are highly susceptible to erosion caused by strong currents and wave action. Each year, hundreds of hectares of floodplain land are lost and (partly) new but short - lived low - lying land (char) appears. The paper describes the main features of Red River and Mekong Delta and the finding of the recent mission, executed on request of Vietnam, concerning analyze of actual situation on riverbank erosion and recommendations on possible action plan.
