摘要

The main objective of the project was to investigate the capability of hydrological models in flood forecasting activities at the Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC), including input data availability and operational requirements including the accuracy demands and requested lead - time. This paper presents some results from the temporal and spatial analysis of the precipitation as input in the rainfall - runoff models with respect to flood forecasting - and flood control. For optimal flood management, it is essential to identify the underlying rainfall generation mechanisms that govern an actual rainfall event as soon as possible. All results presented in the paper constitute a part of the ADB Technical Assistance (TA) Project "Flood Warning and Forecasting in the Yellow River — from Xiaolangdi to Huayuankou" (GETINSA, 2004).
