Energy audit of the residential buildings in Guangzhou

The national code of "Design standard for energy efficiency of residential buildings in hot summer and warm winter zone" was issued in the year of 2003 and actualized since July 1st 2005 in Guangdong province. According to relative laws in Guangdong province, new residential buildings are not authorized the construction licenses without any energy audit or design from then on. In this paper, basic process of energy - efficient design and audit of residential buildings in Guangzhou city is introduced. Based on the energy audit projects in the Building Environment Energy Laboratory (BEEL) of South China University of Technology (SCUT), some statistics data, including total energy audit area, the area percentage of eligible buildings and so on, are shown. The reasons why these buildings can not achieve the minimum requirements and the main problems in the current standard are analyzed. In the end, several useful measures which are carried out in our energy audit and design are listed as a suggestion, in the hope of advancing the career of energy audit in residential buildings.
