Study of Micromechanics Responses for Semiflexible Pavement Based on DEM

In order to study the mechanical responses of semiflexible pavement from microscopic view, discrete element model (DEM) of semiflexible pavement is built by stage filling in this paper. The mechanical characteristics of porous asphalt mixture evenly poured into slurry are analyzed based on the model. Then the contact forces between particles before and after filling and the displacement vectors of particles under loading are compared to interpret the strength formation mechanism of asphalt mixture after filling slurry. In addition, the microscopic response results are analyzed by discrete element method under different maternal parameters including maternal percentage of air voids, maternal equivalent diameter of air voids and maternal modulus and different slurry materials parameters including filling quantity and slurry modulus. The results indicate that the influence of maternal parameters on semiflexible composite material is larger than that of slurry parameters, and the relationships between deformation and the air void content of matrix, maternal stiffness, filling rate of slurry and slurry stiffness are linear, exponential, quadratic polynomial and exponential, respectively.
