Application of SNMR Detection Groundwater Method in Hydrogeological Investigations in China

In this paper it is shown that surface NMR method is the only new geophysical method for detecting groundwater directly with real examples. According to Chinese practice, prospecting of groundwater resources has been carried out by using NUMIS (3 sets) and NUMIS~+(3 sets) in 12 provinces or regions of China. Pore water, fissure water and karst water have been detected, hot groundwater resources have been discovered and estimated, and perspective areas of fresh groundwater resources have been confined by using intergrated geophysical methods in some oilfield in Northeast China. The fact shows that in detection depth range SNMR method plays a role of direct detection of groundwater, identification of apparent resistivity anomaly and guiding drilling technology of water well. Besides, some experiences of detection groundwater using surface NMR have been obtained.
