CONCURRENT DEVELOPMENT OF A VISUAL SIMULATOR, AND OF SOFTWARE AS A NEW CONCEPT IN PRODUCT DEFINITION, AND IN EMBEDDED SOFTWARE DESIGN

This paper presents systematics of a new approach inrnproduct definition and in embedded software design.rnThis approach is aimed at shortening product designrntime, lowering development cost, and lowering thernamount of entropy in communication for productrndefinition. A case study is presented. First, the newrnapproach introduces a fully functional visual behavioralrnsimulator of a new product in the early stage ofrnthe product definition phase. The simulator serves asrnan effective discussion tool. Different potential featuresrnare easily demonstrated. Then, decisions onrnimplementation are made and implemented. A fullyrnfunctional visual behavioral simulator is available atrnthe end of the product definition phase. Second, mostrnof visual behavioral simulator, which runs on arnworkstation, is reused in embedded software thatrngoverns the actual product.
