Investigation of Solidification Structure of Thin Slab in CSP Process

The solidification structure of thin slab of Q235 steel produced by Guangzhou Zhujiang steel Co.Ltd CSP caster was investigated by means of cold acid and hot acid etching. The temperature distribution in the thickness direction was calculated with the help of mathematic model. The relationship between the solidification structure and the longitudinal surface crack was found. The research indicates that, the solidification structure of CSP thin slab is fine; the crystal grain size is uniform. The shape mould and the secondary cooling segment has a certain influence on the thin slab solidification structure and the longitudinal surface crack.
