The behaviors of vacuum consolidation of Soft Bangkok Clay with prefabricated vertical drain (PVD) were simulated by finite element. The results from finite simulation reasonably agreed with the results from the physical model and the field test with or without cap-drain. The vacuum lost along PVD was incooperated in the analysis. For the simulation of the physical model, the simulation of vacuum loss with linear relation along PVD length gave better results compared with the one with the assumption of nonlinear relation of vacuum loss. For the simulation of field monitoring result, the simulation result of a case with cap drain was closed to field testing results than one of a case without cap drain due to the vacuum loss at the sand blanket.
