As a method of collecting data, Laser Ranger Scanning technology has been gradually applied in surveying engineering and spatial data acquisition. For good understanding, the basic principle of laser scanning technology and its definition of the coordinate system for 3D data cloud used in laser scanning are introduced in this paper firstly. However, the 3D rectangle coordinate system used in laser scanning data is defined separately at each station, and difficulties may be found for the 3D data mosaic during the practical application if under a uniform coordinate system. So that the data correction and the data coordinate transformation are needed for the application of laser scanning data.rnAfter the coordinate datum discussion, a new model of the coordinate transformation for the large rotate angle spatial rectangle coordinate system transformation is given in detail. The method is easily calculated and also can avoid the calculation error if the rotate angle is large while the cosine value is small and easily calculated.rnDuring the procedure of the data transformation for laser scanning data, selection of the characteristic control point is discussed by different way. Comparison is applied for determining the influence on the transform accuracy by different control point selection, and its accuracy assessment valve is defined by base line.rnFor the deeply understanding of the accuracy determination during the high precision 3D data acquisition, a detail case study is given to obtain more practical analysis data. And the accuracy of the coordinate transformation is depicted in detail while some result is achieved as a conclusion, which is useful in the 3D laser scanning data application.
