摘要

Fundamental understanding of the basic issues of material and electrochemistry involved in the development of high performance electrode materials is essential for the success and application of intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell (ITSOFC) technology. This is particular true for (LaSr)MnO_3 (LSM)-based cathodes as the electrode contributes significantly to the overall polarization losses of the cell when the SOFC operation temperature decreases. This paper summarized some of the materials and electrochemistry issues encountered in the development and optimization of LSM electrode materials. The results show that the relationship between the materials microstructure, interface properties and the electrochemical behavior is not a static one. Rather the relationship between the materials and electrode behavior involves continuous change and evolution under fuel cell operation conditions.
