Experiments in the Perception of Causality

摘要

Michotte argued that humans almost immediately perceive causality in simple animations as a consequence of spatial and temporal localities. To explore the usefulness of these ideas in animation, Ware et al. introduced a se-miotic method called a visual causal vector. This work studies their wave metaphor, shows a method for calibrating timings to produce a causal impression, and explores the effect of animations timed in this way.
