摘要

The estimation of the fatigue life time of aluminium high-pressure die casting components requires the knowledge of the pore distribution. A basic model was derived from a hpdc plate using Self-Organizing Maps and statistical tools to compute a statistical distribution of the porosity within a well defined area. A new component (especially designed for this project) has been used to test the applicability of the existing model. An example will be presented to visualize how the estimated porosity distribution can be included into the computation of the safety against cyclic failure.
