The purpose of the paper is to study the critical angle of seismic wave of curved bridges. Time history analysis of three six-pan curved bridges is carried out and the critical angle of seismic wave of each bridge is determined. The influence of piers in different heights is discussed considering the interaction of bending moment in two axes. The input angle of seismic wave is kept in the varying range from 0° to 180° by increment of 15°. Pushover method which could satisfy the demand of seismic resistant design is also used to calculated the critical angle. According to a series of analysis, the curvature methodology is applied to determining the critical angle. By using the curvature and the pushover method, the analyzing process can be simplified greatly.
