The HSR T station in Taiwan has been designed with a high atrium where natural vents have been installed on top of the ceiling to control the smoke level to maintain a tenable condition for evacuation should a fire occurs. Performance-based fire engineering design has been exercised, supported by 3D CFD simulation results, which is the main theme of this study, and is discussed in detail in this paper.
