Stability Study Based on Buckling Analysis of High Arch Dam

This paper studies buckling stability safety problem of high arch dam with eigenvalue buckling analysis theory. The reduced algorithm is introduced to extract the eigenvalue in linear buckling analyses. The stability critical load may be found by linear buckling analysis. Then safety stability based on buckling analysis can be estimated if the calculated stability limit load is larger than the strength limit load. Finally Xiaowan high arch dam is performed to safety stability analysis with buckling theory as engineering example. The analysis result shows that the buckling stability is safe, and its stability is controlled by the strength stability.
