GIS BASED EXPERT SYSTEM FOR WATERSHED MANAGEMENT IN MOUNTAIN AREA

Expert system is the promising technology in the field of artificial intelligent which has been widely used for its unique advantage in solving the non-structural problem. Geographic Information System has powerful ability of processing and analyzing spatial data with the functions of gathering, saving, analyzing and displaying all kinds of spatial and non-spatial geographic data as well as the data of inquiry, search, stat and overlapping. Based on the summarization of the experience and knowledge of the experts of watershed management in Beijing mountain area, a knowledge base has been established in this paper. The integration mode of GIS and ES has been put forward. And the application of the system in Shixia small watershed in Beijing mountain area shows that it is a feasible way to develop the GIS-based Expert System for watershed management in mountain area.
