The SiC-Al_2O_3 composite was added into corundum refractory as additive, the effect of its addition amount on the slag penetration and slag corrosion was investigated by the method of static crucible test and its mechanism was discussed. The research results showed that with increasing the addition amount of the SiC-Al_2O_3 composite, the resistances of the slag penetration and slag corrosion of the corundum refractory were both obviously improved. The SiC-Al_2O_3 composite contained in the refractory was easily dissolved into the molten slag and increased the viscosity of the molten slag while the refractory contacted with the molten slag. Due to this behavior, the slag penetration into the refractory and the corrosion of the refractory were effectively inhibited.
