DEVELOPMENT OF AN AGRICULTURAL OUTLET FOR RECYCLING OF ENHANCED TREATED SEWAGE SLUDGE

The paper describes the on-going development of an agricultural outlet for recycling of enhanced treated sewage sludge in NE Scotland. Classification of potentially suitable land is described, taking account of cropping restrictions and the impact of livestock manures. Responses of farmers to two questionnaires, regarding the important issues influencing their attitudes towards use of enhanced treated sludge on their farms, are presented. Results of field trials to test nutrient and lime values of thermally dried sewage sludge granules and lime-stabilised cake are shown in this paper.
