摘要

Due to the consideration of wind dynamic effects as recommended in latest international standards and codes, the forces on cooling tower shells and the associated material requirement has increased. This paper presents a brief study on wind loading criteria and study of wind dynamic components from major international codes. A comparative study is presented here, after considering the wind dynamic effects as per BS 4485 Part 4 (1996) and VGB-BTR (1997) to that of IS 11504 (1985) using quasi-static analysis approach for a cooling tower located in high wind zones prevailing in India.
