Doping of rare earth elements into microporous and mesoporous aluminophosphate

The rare earth ions of europium (Eu), cerium (Ce), and terbium (Tb) were successfully doped into the zeolitic frameworks of microporous aluminophosphate AlPO_4-5. Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), luminescence spectroscopy, and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS) were used to characterize this zeolitic aluminophosphates doped with rare earth ions. Both XRD and SEM measurements indicate that no crystalline phases other than A1PO_4-5. The luminescence spectroscopy and XPS measurements suggest the existence of rare-earth elements in the framework of the large-pore aluminophosphate AlPO_4-5. However, the efforts of trying to dope europium ions into the framework of mesoporous aluminophosphate through a co-synthesis method are unsuccessful.
