Molecular motions of methanol and aromatic molecules (benzene, toluene, p-xylene) adsorbed in 1D nanochannels of pillared-layer coordination polymers with paramagnetic metal ions have been studied by ~2H NMR together with X-ray crystallography. NMR spectra at various temperatures and Rietveld analyses of powder X-ray diffractions represented that the characteristic shape and periodic potential of each micropore confined guests in highly restricted motions and ordering even though the guests are physisorbed.
