摘要

It is well understood that cracks in the concrete lining of a tunnel (particularly those that are progressing) can be a severe safety hazard to the tunnel structures. While information on crack depth is essential, the performance of existing crack detection methods is far from satisfactory. This paper presents a new testing technique for monitoring the cracking depth and progress. Field experiments have demonstrated that this new method yields results superior to the existing methods.
