The diagnosis and treatment of malocclusions characterized by anterior openbite continues to be one of the more difficult problems facing tthe practicing or thodontist. High pull headgear is a popular approach to the correction of anterior openbite. An alternative approach to openbite correction uses posterior bite-blocks to achieve inhibition of maxillary posterior dentoalveolar development wich encourages subsequent bite closing mandibular antorotatition. Until recently, surgical movement of the jaws has been widely regarded as the most effective treatment for the correction of skeletal openbite. In general, the aim of such surgical treatment is to elevate the maxilla and its dentition, thereby allowing the mandible to rotate upward and forward to close the openbite. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of repelling magnets on the treatment of anterior openbite and compare them with the effects of acrylic posterior bite-blocks.
