In order to eliminate the inconsistency between documents and source codes, which makes the maintenance of information systems very difficult and time-consuming, this paper uses Tree View Graphical Language (TVGL), Problem Analysis Diagram (PAD) and Extensible Markup Language (XML) to reinforce Unified Modeling Language (UML), realizes Reinforced Unified Modeling Language (RUML), which has smaller granularity level and is more suitable for documenting. Based on RUML, we bring forward the Document Level Maintenance Model (DLMM) as the solution of facilitating the maintenance of information system. DLMM uses RUML as documenting language, implements the round-trip engineering, puts the maintenance work of information system on the level of document as much as possible, decreases the negative effects of human hands, ensures the consistency between RUML documents and source codes, and thus reduces the workload of the maintenance of information system. We design and realize a DLMM platform for a large-scale management information system. This system lacks documents severely, and there are large amount of inconsistencies between the existing documents and source codes, which make the system very difficult to maintain. Our DLMM platform, whose kernel composes of code-UML converter, code-XML converter and XML-TVGL/PAD converter, facilitates the maintenance of the information system prominently.
