A computer model for simulating surge propagation along distribution cable network is developed by using Electromagnetic Transients Programs package (EMTDC). Two modified cross bonding method are proposed in this paper. Based on the proposed model, the induced sheath voltages under different conditions are investigated for the traditional cross bonding method and the modified cross bonding methods. The sheath voltages along the cable under steady state are calculated considering the cable length as variable parameter. The overvoltages in the sheath induced by single-phase ground fault are also studied.
