This biography on the life and career of Dr. Robert Frankenthal was written on the occasion of a special symposium "Corrosion Science: A Retrospective and Current Status, in honor of Robert P. Frankenthal." This symposium was held in conjunction with the Centennial meeting of The Electrochemical Society, Inc. in Philadelphia, May 12―17, 2002. It was more than fitting that this symposium was scheduled for the Centennial meeting, given Bob's many decades of dedicated service to the health and well-being of the Society and the Corrosion Division.
