摘要

The numerical simulation of turbulent flow in a continuous galvanizing bath was validated by means of flow visualisation and velocity measurement experiments in a 1:5 scale water model. The orthogonal x, y, z velocity components were determined using a laser doppler velocimeter technique where the values along specific line path were measured at various locations in the bath. Comparison of the values showed a good general agreement with a finite element numerical simulation. A much larger degree of turbulence near the strip and the rolls was observed. The results indicate that numerical models need to be refined in the zones of thigh velocity gradients and which incorporate experimentally validated measurements of the turbulence contributions.
