Nowadays the automakers are driven by more and more stringent emission regulations and the world ever-increasing petrol price to continuously seek the alternative power source for ground vehicles. Despite there exits many choice like fuel cell, electric vehicle and many alternative fuels. Two technologies are getting prevailing, the Diesel engine and hybrid Powertrain. Diesel engine is much more efficient than the gasoline engine, but it will create more pollutants like PM, NO_x., and it has the cold start problem. These disadvantages will partially be settled by using the three-way catalyze and PM filter and by adopting the advanced electric control system, like common rail. But the inefficiency caused by unpredictable operation conditions of ground vehicle can not fully solved by engine itself, which can be minimal released by using Hybrid technology. Hybrid powertrian combine an ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) with an electric motor which will start and co-work with the engine to supply the drive torque, or function as a generator to absorb the vehicle motivation. The engines pollutants will be further reduced and better fuel economy will be achieved. More and more automakers and governors turn to hybrid technology, because they can reuse their exited ICE technology, and needs no renovation of current gas station and infrastructure.
