After burning powdered coal in the boiler generating system and discharging from the smoke road, some slight pellets collected by dust catcher is called fly ash. The fly ash is the residue from the combustion of pulverized coal in thermal power stations. In recent years, with the unceasing increase of burning coal units and expansion of the power plant scale in our country, the discharge amount of fly ash greatly has a potential increasing trend. According to statistics, now the annual discharge amount of fly ash in the world is up to 500 million tons, however, the discharge amount in our country accounts for 20%, the amount surpassed 100 million tons and lists the second in the world. The effective utilization of fly ash has been an important task.However, the effective utilization of fly ash is closely related to its' performance. To a great extent, the performance of fly ash lies on the burn coal type. From the view of our countries' coal resources, it has the characteristics of wide distributing range and many types of coal. The characteristics lead to the performance difference of fly ash between different regions; it is very difficult to form a uniform using standard. So, at present the percentage of utilization of fly ash is very low, only about 30%. The comprehensive utilization technologies about fly ash have more than 200 items, but only 70 items had been put into practice. Fly ash has been applied to building materials, construction work, road building, the backfill, the agriculture and the resources recycling and so on. It is imperative to carry out the highly effective comprehensive utilization of fly ash in our country.
