The paper suggests an approach for cumulonimbus clouds detection, including embedded convection, based on thresholdvalues of surface atmospheric electric field potential gradient. On the example of IMCES SB RAS (Tomsk) measuringcomputationsystem, authors demonstrate the effectiveness of such approach implementation for real-time informationobtaining on submerged convection in frontal cloud fields.
