Preservation and Reuse of Industrial Heritage: The Case of the World Expo Park 2010 Shanghai China

摘要

This paper introduces the background, goal and framework of preservation and reuse of industrial heritage in the World Expo Park 2010 Shanghai China. The case study is consisted of two components: investigation and planning of preservation and reuse. In investigation, the system of reserved buildings in the Expo Park is divided into 3 layers: legally historic preservation buildings, industry heritage and urban building heritage. Compared with Planning of the Expo Park, the ultimately reused buildings are decided. Then the basic information of each building is collected and reusing feasibility is evaluated. In the second part, the renovating strategies of 5 zones in the Expo Park are put forward. Accordingly planning of preservation and reuse gives suggestions to the adjustment of Planning of the Expo.
