RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN DESIGN AND PRODUCTION METHODS OF STEEL SANDWICH PANELS

In this report the recent advances in design and production of all steel and metal composite sandwich panels are presented. Following a brief description of previous and ongoing research and applications involving steel sandwich panels, emphasis is put on the calculation of the elastic response of both sandwich beams and plates Then the ultimate strength approach to calculate different failure modes and a new internet based SANDWICH design tool are presented. In the last part of the report some examples of the production and application of the steel sandwich panels are given.
