IMAGE COMPRESSION METHOD BASED ON THE SUB-BAND SIMILARITY OF DIFFERENT SCALES BY WAVELET TRANSFORM DECOMPOSITION

摘要

In this paper, we study the similarity between sub-bands of different scales in the same direction and the compression of the structural redundancy by using this similarity. This paper puts forward an image compression method based on similarity of different scales coefficients and presents a new algorithm of image compression. The experiments show the method proposed by this paper can be applied diffusely to digital images of different features. The capability of compression using this method excels that of JPEG.
