Molybdenum (Mo) is an essential trace element of many organisms including plants, and Mo deficiency and excess are agricultural problems. Mo cofactor (Moco) contains a single Mo coordinated to molybdopterin. In plants, Moco is an essential cofactor to activate some enzymes, called molybdenzymes, e.g. nitrate reductase. Decrease in Moco accumulation under low Mo condition was reported. It is possible that Mo deficiency induces unusual nitrogen metabolism. Elucidation of the mechanisms of Mo uptake and transport is beneficial for development of sustainable agriculture, considering the involvement of Mo in plants metabolisms including nitrogen assimilation. Although biosynthetic pathway of Moco was revealed, molecular mechanisms of Mo assimilation remains to be elucidated. In the process of analysis of an Arabidopsis thaliana mutant related to boron nutrition, we found molybdenum contents differ between accessions Col-0 and her. Update of the Quantitative trait loci analysis is presented.
