Due to recent citrus fruit exports, citrus fanning gained importance and growers became more concerned about micronutrient management. Mindful of the importance of the subject, funds were made available to investigate the extent of micronutrient deficiencies and develop proper recommendations. Therefore, 1.5 million acres of citrus growing area was marked and soil and plant samples were collected. The results showed that Zn was deficient to medium in 91% soils and deficient in 93% citrus orchards. Boron was deficient in 86% soils. In orchards it was deficient in 10% and low in 43% sites. The Cu, Fe and Mn were optimum both in soils and orchards. On the basis of this information, it is concluded that Zn application is required in orchards either through the soil or through foliage. In case of B, its application should be based on both soil and plant analysis. Indiscriminate use may damage the orchards.
