In this paper we study the contribution of peat fire emission in Indonesia during the strong El Nino event in 1997/98. A regional atmospheric model is applied over Indonesia using different fire emission estimates. We evaluate modelled atmospheric particle concentrations by comparison with observations and draw conclusions on the peat area burned.
