Sharing Engineering Information and Knowledge - Contributions to PIPEFA's Platform

To transform individual information into group knowledge is a challenge for those in charge of developing collaborative platforms. Big enterprises are aware of this potential but for small and medium enterprises (SME) this is still a neglected issue (MakeltSME, 1999). Because SMEs form a huge industrial supplier, they could operate as partners on a network taking advantage of their core competence and partnerships. The current work aims to contribute by defining a design framework using agent technologies to achieve this objective. An agent approach is used to connect users in the same knowledge field using inputs provided by users themselves. The pilot test platform will be PIPEFA (an Industrial Platform for Research, Teaching, and Training in Automation), where SME can experience methodologies, techniques and tools while sharing their experience and skills with their partners.
