Inventory Models with Two Modes of Freight Transportation

摘要

This paper presents inventory models with constant demand rate that include both truckload shipments and less than truckload carriers as modes of transportation. Exact algorithms for computing optimal policies are given for one and two stage models over an infinite planning horizon. For a single stage model, a comparison is made between allowing both modes of transportation simultaneously as opposed to using each of these modes exclusively.
