In this paper, using the overall sound power spectrum obtaining from intensity techniqucs, the most powerful source and its dominant frequency of marine dicscl engine arc identified, and the procedures of large dicscl engine in situ measurement arc established. This study is performed at the marine engineering workshop which is used to simulate the engine room, and the complex sound field intensity in situ measurement is qualified by four field indexes. The accuracy of the intensity techniques are checked by comparison with the surface intensity method, and the results of these two methods are found excellent agreement.
