The paper demonstrates an Energy Management System (EMS) application on a smart farm with high PV penetration, demand side management, a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and an electric tractor. During the project, the partners have determined the requirements for the energy management system. The optimizer-engine in the EMS calculates forecasts for renewable power generation and demand availability. Based on the forecasts the optimal economic schedules are calculated, considering when the tractor and switchable loads are available and at the same time taking variable energy tariffs into consideration. The decentral EMS itself runs on an industrial PC, using the latest information technologies. The project demonstrates several advantages, which are achievable when combining the energy with the mobility sector, using an online optimization.
