Contract Mining Lihir Gold Mine

Lihir Gold Mine is situated in a dormant volcanic caldera on a small island off PNG. Not "extinct" but dormant. Current ground temperatures are up to 150 degrees Celsius with active geysers in the workings of the mine, polls of boiling ground water adjacent to low-grade dumps and hydrogen sulphide gas emissions. It is a unique mining environment by world standards.
