摘要

Increasing program performance through intelligent recompilation decision and optimization based on the program's best behavior motivates the demand for tools to collect data about the dynamic behavior of programs and make good presentation to users. The process of automatic collection and presentation of data characterizing performance of running programs is called profiling. The software accomplishing such functions is profiler. For applications implemented in different program languages, many different aspects should be considered to design and accomplish a particular profiler. Study presented in this paper confined to profilers targeted to Java applications and there is a good reason for such a choice in Section 1. This paper presents the categories of current popular profilers and their strong points or shortcomings, the architecture and framework, the choice of program languages to accomplish such a tool and the related work.
