The Hazard Prediction and Assessment Capability and Its Application to Industrial Hazards

The Hazard Prediction and Assessment Capability (HPAC) is a suite of models that simulate the accidental or intentional release of nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) materials, transport and dispersion, and associated downwind collateral effects (e.g., human health effects). The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) developed the HPAC tools in response to a culmination of events resulting in a heightened awareness and critical need to counter the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) infrastructure.
