Fuel Cells for Small Vehicles

NovArs has developed a power supply unit based on a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. This fuel cell is now powering the hub motor of a bicycle ― the "HYDROCYLE" ― to illustrate the capabilities of the NovArs fuel cell design. The cylindrical shaped PEM fuel cell stack delivers 670 W DC at a nominal voltage of 25 V and has a weight of only 780 g. The HYDROCYCLE~(TM) system includes as hydrogen supply a 2 liter carbon fiber reinforced pressure vessel with an electrical energy content of 780 Wh. The components of the fuel cell system have a total weight of 3.8 kg and are integrated in the bicycle.
