Pervasive Multimedia via an Intelligent Remocon for Digital home Environments

There has been much desire to access and acquire rich multimedia via any device at anywhere in the way users want to consume. In this paper, we introduce an MPEG-21 Digital Item Adaptation based on pervasive multimedia framework with an intelligent TV remocon and content adaptation for a digital home environment. Our pervasive multimedia framework support a user to seamlessly consume his/her preferred contents on different devices consecutively. The intelligent remocon adopts a user preference learning algorithm in order to make a TV terminal present a personalized EPG to a specific user. So, it becomes possible for the user to easily access and to consume his/her preferred contents from the personalized EPG. The experimental results show that, in our pervasive multimedia computing framework, a user can efficiently maintain context information on content consumption and his/her preference data on TV program contents so that pervasive multimedia access and consumption can be possible via any device at anywhere.
