摘要

This paper presents the design and analysis of a priority scheduling MAC protocol, namely, priority request-to-send (PRPS) protocol. For PRPS, in a single-hop scenario, traffic flow with high priority can get its bandwidth guarantee and this protocol works in a distributed way. An analytical model presented in this paper provides a novel approach to address the saturated throughput and delay of this kind of priority based MAC protocol. The result of the PRPS protocol is compared with that of the IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) standard. Analysis results indicate that the system throughput has an improvement with respect to the 802.11 DCF.
