Mobile ISAW

The Integrated Spectral Analysis Workbench (ISAW) is a GUI-based tool developed by the Intense Pulsed Neutron Source (IPNS) division at the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) to view experimental data. In the near future, the size of the experimental datasets produced will make them inaccessible to many resources. In this paper we extend the capabilities of ISAW to display gigabyte-sized run files on resources of varying capabilities. We present three different compression algorithms unique to the IPNS data and a technique to effectively deal with data mismatches. Our experimental results show that our approach effectively displays the gigabyte-sized datasets with minimal loss of accuracy for varying device capabilities. Further, by utilizing a consumer's job distribution map (JDM) and taking advantage of the distinct nature of the data, we can significantly reduce the overall execution time of a consumer's service request.
