JEE Engineering has developed an advanced stoker-type incineration system "JFE Hyper 21 Stoker System". It is equipped with several new technologies to meet requirements of the marketplace for the municipal solid waste incineration plant in the 21st century; to minimize the environmental pollutants, to improve the bottom ash quality and to have more effective use of energy while at the same time reduce the operational costs. Main features of this advanced incinerator are the low air-ratio combustion, which has been accomplished by application of High-temperature air combustion technology, and the ash treatment system integrated in the incinerator. This paper describes the investigation and development of the advanced stoker-type incineration system with the result of the pilot plant and the practical operation test conducted in the 105 t/d capacity municipal solid waste incinerator under commercial plant. The practical test demonstrated that the stable low air-ratio combustion at an air ratio of 1.3 and the integrated ash treatment are feasible with the advanced technology resulting in a mitigation of environmental damage, and energy efficiency improvement.
