Hot topics for cool devices ― Thermal challenges for a small planet

Coming third generation and still undefind fourth generation standards for telecommunication devices, together with the market demand, push the designers to solutions bringing along still higher heat intensities. The technical development of telecommunication devices is dis-cribed together with the demands set for thermal management in the product design. Some further trends in the applicable cooling and design solutions are discussed about.
